We are committed to protecting your personal data and handling it in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU GDPR where applicable, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Pitchwise app, website, and related services.

3. How we use your information
We use your personal data to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Pitchwise app and its features

- Moderate content, including human review of flagged or reported material

4. Legal bases for processing
We rely on the following lawful bases under the GDPR:
- Contract— where processing is necessary to provide the services you have requested
- Consent— for optional uses such as marketing communications and analytics cookies, and for training AI models on footage featuring players under 18 (see Section 5). You can withdraw consent at any time
- Legitimate interests— to improve the app (including the processing of user-uploaded sports videos featuring adults for the purpose of training AI algorithms), ensure safety, prevent misuse, and monitor feature usage
- Legal obligations— where required to comply with the law
5. Children’s privacy
Pitchwise is built for grassroots football, which means match footage will often feature children and young people. We take this responsibility seriously.
- Children under 13 years of age (or the applicable age of digital consent in their country) require verified parental or guardian consent to create an account
- Users under 13 cannot make public posts
- Users aged 13–17 must have parental or guardian consent
- Teams, coaches, or clubs uploading footage containing children are responsible for obtaining the necessary parental or guardian permissions before sharing
- We provide tools for teams to manage visibility and sharing permissions for content featuring minors
- Footage featuring children is only used to train and improve our AI models where a parent or guardian has given explicit opt-in consent — you can decline without affecting your ability to use Pitchwise
See our safeguarding policy for our full approach to child safety.
6. How we share data
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with:
- Other users— according to your sharing and privacy settings
- Service providers— including hosting providers, cloud storage services, analytics services, and payment processors that help us operate
- Moderators— who may review reported or flagged content for compliance with our community guidelines
- Law enforcement— where disclosure is required by law, regulation, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Pitchwise or others
7. Data storage and international transfers
Personal data is stored in secure data centres within the UK and/or European Union.
If data is transferred outside the UK or EU, we ensure adequate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
8. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy or as required by law.
- Account data is retained while your account remains active
- Accounts that are inactive for more than 24 months may be deleted
- You may delete your account at any time, after which your data will be removed or anonymised within 30 days, unless retention is required by law
Match footage is retained according to your plan. You can delete your content at any time through the app.
9. Data security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and system monitoring. Access to personal data is restricted to team members who need it to operate the service.
